Something interesting happened to me about a week ago.
A battery testing station sets in my computer room right behind the chair I sit in. I was working late one night and heard an odd sound behind me. It was a soft ticking noise. It attracted my attention because nothing but the computer was turned on. I looked around and finally realized it was coming from the spare battery area. I finally narrowed the sound down to three batteries that were laying together. One of them began jumping like a Mexican jumping bean. I took the three batteries out and examined them and the area they were laying in. I could find nothing out of the ordinary.
When I held the batteries in my hand, they all seemed the same. When I laid them down one again started hopping about. I looked under them thinking there must be a bug or something moving them about. There was nothing.
Whenever I picked up the one that was moving, I could feel or see nothing out of the ordinary. When I laid it back down, it would hop. After a few minutes the phenomena disappeared.
The next night I was sitting in the same place and the faint tapping began again. It appeared to be in the same area. Again I examined the battery and the area. This time I could see some moisture on the bottom of the battery and beneath it. The tapping had been caused by the build up leak of a faulty battery.
